Tsum Valley Trekking
Tsum valley trekking is unique and well-known trek in Nepal. Tsum valley is located in the northern part of the Gorkha District nearby Tibetan border in Manaslu region. ‘Tsum’ derived from the Tibetan word ‘Tasmbo’ which means vivid. Tsum valley trek is launched in 2008 for foreign trekkers. The valley is getting popularity according to its religious aspect and natural beauty. The trek gives you a typical taste of the culture of the remote villages in the Manaslu region. The valley represents its history with Tibetan artistic monasteries, Mani walls and stupas garnished the entire Tsum Valley.
Trekking to Tsum Valley is a famous trail that leads you in the Tibetan region and for being the place where Mileripa an important figure of Buddhist was said to have mediated in several of the caves. Most of the people in the Tsum Valley are Tibetan origin and have their own language. Sincerely spiritual, the locals are mostly followers of Guru Padmasambhava. They warmly welcome the guests and visitors with traditional Tibetan tea, which is made by butter and salt tastes completely different to regular Chiya (tea). Polyandry is still can be experienced among the locals who rejoice festivals like Dachyang, Losar (New year), Saka Dawa (month to abstain from sins), and many other festivals. Tsum Valley has been able to sustain a unique culture that is the reason to visit Tsum valley.
Tsum Valley is a newly designed trekking destination in Manaslu region. Valley is surrounded by Buddha HimalChuuli, Sringi Himal, and Ganesh Himal.
Tsum valley trek begins with a day-long drive from Kathmandu to Arughat. Gorkha is the home of warrior and connected through Gorkha Bazar, Tirshuli Bazar, and Dhading Besi. The trail then moves to the north of the valley of the Budi Gandaki River toward Philim through wild and unexplored village mainly inhabited by Gurung community. On your way to Philim, your eyes will be witness of several waterfalls and listening birds chirping sounds for your friends as you walk into the forest of rhododendron (national flower).
Trekking towards Tsum Valley, Lokpa is the very first village you pass after reaching the valley of Tsum Dhoban, Lamagaun, Burji, Chuli, Nile, Dhumje, are other villages, that you will come across on your trekking. Mu Gompa, the largest monastery in the area, Rachen Gumba Lungdand, the oldest nunnery in the valley are the major attraction of this valley.
The start and endpoint of Tsum Valley Trek is Arughat, seven hours drive from Kathmandu. The first half of the trek ascends the Budhi-Gandaki Valley on good paths through a mix of dense forest, terraced fields and hill villages. As we leave the main Manaslu circuit trail for Tsum Valley, we get a feeling of entering into the hidden heaven on the earth valley. During this trek, we also pass through the alpine forests, glacial rivers, and enjoy the hospitality of local ethnic people.

Itenerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Upon your arrival one of our airport representatives will welcome you at the Tribhuvan International Airport and after that transfer you to Nivas Boutique Home or similar category hotel in Kathmandu. Overnight at Kathmandu.

Day 02: Necessary preparation for trekking.
We will have necessary preparations for our trekking. Perhaps go for shopping to pack some necessary equipment. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Drive to Aarughat (535m) by bus. Camp.
Today, we will drive to Aarughat from Kathmandu, by car or bus which is arresting. You will have stunning views of Annapurna, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu and Langtang Himal superb view and lush hills. We will reach Aarughat Bazaar taking 7 hours. Aarughat Bazaar is enormous, pristine and prosperous with hotels as well as shops. Overnight at hotel or camp.

Day 04: Trek to Liding (860m). Camp.
Today, we will trek to Soti River taking 6 hours from Aarughat passing via Budhigandaki River shore. En-route, we can enjoy superb vistas of Shringri Himal and local community. The trail goes all the way through Magar and Gurung villages passing meadows and striking waterfalls, we arrive at Soti Khola. Overnight at tea house or camp.

Day 05: Trek to Machhakhola (930m). Camp.
Today we will depart from Soti Khola and on the way we will view the rice pasture and travel around local community while walking to Machhakhola. Machhakhola is a community, which is located above a river with the same name of Budhi Gandaki. Overnight at teahouse or camp.

Day 06: Trek to Jagat (1410m). Camp.
Today we will walk all the way through the narrow path has small ups and downs before traversing the Thado River and passing all the way through a pebbly gorge to Khorlabesi. After that you will observe a hot spring at Tatopani. The path after that moves up an edge before traversing the Budhi Gandaki through a suspension bridge. With a fine stairs will take us to a landslide prior to a final edge to Dobhan. Then we will walk after the east shore to a 93m suspension bridge above the Yaru River, and then climb stony stairs up and backside to the river prior to climbing to Thado Bharyang. Traversing the west shore of the Budhi Gandaki River, we will climb an edge and go behind the river quietly up to the community of Jagat. Overnight at tea house or camp.

Day 07: Trek to Lakpa (2040m). Camp.

Day 08: Trek to Chumling (2361m). Camp.
We will today depart from Lakpa and take up the trail up all the way passing through Philim and make way up to a ridge that takes us to Ganesh Himal Base camp and Chumling. Overnight at camp in Chumling.

Day 09: Trek to Chhokangparo (3010m). Camp
From Chumling we will today trek to Chhokangparo lying at an elevation of 3010m. Chhokamparo is a village located on flat terrain and has two settlements – Chhekam as well as Paro. Ganesh Himal range the south can be seen from the valley along with the fantastic views of the Himal chuli and Baudha peaks lying to the south-west. Overnight at camp in Chhkangparo.

Day 10: Trek to Chhule-Nile (3361m). Camp.
We will trek to Chule-Nile from Chhokangparo. Nile is located on the western side of the Shiar River which is around 20 minutes away from Chhule. En-route we will pass through the Piren Phu cave. Piren Phu meaning pigeon cave is one of the holy caves in the entire Tsum valley. It is situated at the base of a rough cliff close to the community of Burji. Splendidly painted Buddhist frescos, outstanding artistic scripts engraved on stones, prayer flags and important Buddhists manuscript make this cavern one of the most significant socio-cultural side in the valley. Overnight in Nile.

Day 11: Trek to Mu Gompa (3700m), Camp.
From Nile, we will ascend Mu Gomba, the biggest monastery in the area. Mu Gumba is situated at the highest point in the Tsum valley. Also, we will today visit Dephyudonma Gumba which is the oldest monasteries in the Tsum Valley. The monastery is located in the rough mountains and lies at the distance of 2 hours walk from Chhule and Nile. Overnight at camp in Mu Gompa.

Day 12: Trek to Rachen Gompa (3240m), Camp.
Leaving Mu Gumba we will trek to Rachen Gumba, a nunnery. It is situated in the Shiar River Valley in the base of the peaks bordering Tibet and Nepal. The nunnery holds 1000 clay statues of Avalokiteshwara, a dazzlingly colored, engraved throne and pillar, plus a huge prayer wheel. The internal design of the nunnery is richly decorated with murals of Buddhism. Overnight in Rachen Gompa.

Day 13: Trek to Dumje (2440m), Camp.
From Rachen Gompa today we will make way to Dumje lying at the height of 2440m. Dumje is a small village having around 8 houses and adjacent cattle shed. We will trek for around 5 hours to reach Dunje from Rachen Gompa.

Day 14: Trek to Gumba Lungdang (3200m), Camp.
Today, we will trek for 5 to6 hours in order to reach Gumba Lungdang from Lungdang. You will ascend up to 800 meter today to set our camp at Gumba Lungden at 3200m. Overnight in Gumba Lungden.

Day 15: Trek to Ripchet (2468m), Camp.
Today, we will trek to Ripchet at 2468m. This is an easy day to stroll down to Ripchet. Overnight at camp in Ripchet.

Day 16: Trek to Dobhan (1070m), Camp
After finishing our breakfast, we will walk for around 5 hour downward to Dobhan. We will march down over 1200 meter today to set our camp at 1070m, Dobhan. Overnight in Dobhan.

Day 17: Trek to Soti khola (720m), Camp.
Today we will follow all along the Budhi Gandaki River to its peak of source. We go by the village of Simre and Morder to reach Soti Khola. After reaching Kyoropani we will ascend gradually to Soti Khola. Overnight at camp.

Day 18: Trek to Aarughat (535m), Camp.
Taking around 6 hours today we will trek to Aarughat which is the last trekking day of Tsum Valley Trek. We have an easy walking to reach Aarughat. Overnight at camp in Aarughat.

Day 19: Drive back to Kathmandu.
Today, with early drive, we will return back to Kathmandu. Transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day relax at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 20: A free day in Kathmandu for shopping and rest.
We have a free day today. We can alternatively go for a wonderful half day sightseeing trip in Kathmandu including Pashupatinath, the main holy spot for Hindus; Boudhnath, biggest stupa and Patan City, rich in art and architecture; and we will also visit Monkey Temple, Swayambhunath. Or do some shopping or rest.

Day 21: Depart to International Airport.
Today is the last day in Nepal. Our airport representative will drive you to the airport for bidding goodbye.
